Here's a select passage from John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath that I think is iconic of the Great Depression in the United States, back in the 30s. It's very dramatic, very fun to read, and is much better at the end than at the beginning. I'm still learning about uploading and editing videos, so it hasn't got very good production values (all in one take, for example), but I think the material stands up for itself.

I LOVE Steinbeck. The Grapes of Wrath is my most favorite book. It's just too passionate and juicy and powerful. :)

I don't really remember that song that well. But I believe it's about the depression. Practically everything from the 30s is.

Did you know that the song "the big rock candy mountian" was relative to the great depressions homeless people?
